Imo State: Imo Water Corporation Staffs Decry Non-Payment Of Salary for eight months By Uzodimma.

We are deeply indebted, hunger is ravaging us, as we scarcely meet the financial needs of our families, the staffs said to OgeneNews in Owerri.

Staffs of Imo State Water and Sewerage Corporation have decried eight months of non-payment of their salaries by the government.

Some of the staffs, who anonymously spoke to Ogene Ndigbo Newspaper  recently, at the Corporation’s Office, Okigwe Road, Owerri, frowned that “upon the meagre salaries we receive monthly, most workers of Imo State Water and Sewerage Corporation are still being owed for 8 months by the current government. We are deeply indebted. Hunger is ravaging us, as we scarcely meet the financial needs of our families”.

The workers, who stated that both engineers and office workers of the Water Corporation were bitter about non-payment of their 8 months salaries, decried that Governor Hope Uzodimma told them earlier that he was “withholding our salaries because he wants to flush out ghost workers in the Corporation. But when we made him to know that the Corporation has no ghost workers, he then told us to expect our salaries which we are yet to see”.

They regretted that they have not seen “this type of ill- treatment of non-payment of salaries in the Corporation by government”.

According to them, “former governors, Tanko Zubairo, Ikedi Ohakim, Emeka Ihedioha did not owe us our salaries, but the Shared Prosperity administration led by Uzodimma owes us for eight solid months”.

They begged the government to hasten and pay them their salaries as promised, so that they meet their financial obligations, as well have the energy to show up to work punctually and regularly.
