The Former Governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha yesterday in his community, Ogboko, Ideato South Local Government Area, slashed the present governor of the state, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha that he (Emeka) didn’t win the election.

The former governor blamed the country for allowing such crime to happen in the country. He said, “if not how Nigeria is, Emeka is not supposed to be the governor”.

Stating what happened during the election, he said, “Emeka didn’t win by the number of votes, he didn’t win with the required number of local governments as required by the constitution”.

The multitude of people at the venue he was making the speech seemed to be amused and shocked with the former governor’s utterances, but were consciously listening to what he was saying in disbelief.

Rochas continued, he said, “instead of Emeka to work, he is busy fighting and making trouble with me”.

Chief Rochas Okorocha, whose countenance looked very dejected and miserable said, “this government will not last”. He warned the governor to make this few weeks he has to lead and make impacts.

In Okorocha’s statement, he accused the governor for refusing to work for the people, but busy chasing and attacking him, (Rochas).

He quarried the reason why, the governor is antagonizing and chasing him, both in the morning, afternoon and night.

He asked, “Is Rochas work?”. He requested the governor to go and work and stop chasing him.

In the same development, it should also be noted that since Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha worn the election and sworn in as the Executive governor of the state, the vast majority of the people of the state has been demanding the governor to prosecute the former governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha for misappropriation of the state funds for the past eight years he (Rochas Okorocha) steered the affairs of the state.

This demand made by the people of the state has never been forgotten by the governor, Ogene Ndigbo Newspaper revealed.

It was also gathered that, Rt.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha had promised to allow the due process of law to always take precedence in all his dealings and also when dealing with those who had inappropriately managed the state resources.

On his official visit to London last March, when he was received by the people of Imo state, residing in the United Kingdom, he pleaded with the people of the state for their understanding, as a lot is expected of him.

He promised to meet with the demand of the people to ensure their hopes on him will never fluster nor die. In his remark to make it clear to the people over the prosecution of those who mismanaged the state resources, he said, “I will step on toes”.

As the law is stepping in to deal with those who mismanaged the state resources in the previous governments, certain individuals in the previous government are shivering for the effect it may have on them.

In a press release by the Coalition for the Advancement of Good Governance, comprising, Peoples Alliance for Indigenous Rights, Network for Transparency, NET, Society for Equity and Inclusion, SEI, and Lawyers for Democratic Rights and Civic Space, in a joint statement said,

“It is still a surprise that ‘Senator’ Rochas Okorocha is yet to come to terms with the fact that the good people of Imo state rejected his attempt to install his son-in-law and create an Okorocha Dynasty in an egalitarian state such as Imo state. Since the former governor is fully persuaded that His Excellency Governor Emeka Ihedioha did not win the election that brought him into office, he should simply have represented his son-in-law at the tribunals rather than engaging in this theatre of the absurd”. They added that Okorocha has also been rejected by his party, APC.

They group advised Okorocha to beg people of Imo state for their forgiveness and make restitutions for his crimes against today and posterity of Imo state and called on the Government of Imo State led by His Excellency Emeka Ihedioha not to relent in repositioning the state, restore confidence of people of Imo state that have been lost, recover all stolen properties of the state from officials and family members of the past regime as well as stay focused on his service to the state.

In a statement from the office of the secretary to government of Imo state, Prince MacDonald Enwere, Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the Government of Imo state said, Chief Ethelbert Okorocha has turned himself into a public nuisance suffering from withdrawal syndrome, he said, “the former governor rants like a baby whose mouth was forcefully withdrawn from the mother’s breast”.

He said to the former governor that, in his bid to incite the people against the present government, he has ended up in making fool of himself and turning himself into a public nuisance. He asked him to hide his ugly face in shame and apologize to the people of the state for raping and pillaging the State resources with gross impunity.

According to the Special Assistance, he said, “Rochas was unleashing all manner of lexical volleys on the present administration and on a man, he is not worthy and qualified to lace his shoes. He forgot that such sterile scurrility is no longer fashionable to the people of the state and a responsible Political Office Holder should know his limits and comports himself with a modicum of respect and decency”.

Prince Enwere said, “this present administration is committed in the task of rebuilding the State from ruination and cannot be distracted by the infantile outburst of a rejected, frustrated and dejected man like Chief Okorocha who is now suffering from withdrawal syndrome. Instead of making mockery of himself, he should concentrate and face his EFCC case”, he concluded.
