The President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo UK, Dr. Nnanna Igwe has visited the venue for the Igbo Day Celebration in London to inspect the equipment and facilities to be used during the occasion. Dr Igwe who was accompanied by the master DJ who will be playing on the occasion said, “it was an inspection tour to test run the musical equipment, speakers, and microphones installed, and facilities available in the venue”.
He further stated that his visit to the venue was to identify other equipment that are available at the center where the event will be held. It has been in the public that Ohanaeze Ndigbo UK is organising the World Igbo Day in London which will be held for three days in June 2019.
According to Ogene Ndigbo Newspaper, the Igbo tabloid, revealed that the event will be held on 28th – 30th June 2019.
The occasion which will be taking place in Edmonton Green, North London United Kingdom at the Lee Valley Athletic Center has been described as “first of its kind in the world”. According to inquiries, the center to hold this event has the capacity of 3000 seats to accommodate the people at the event. The venue is large and very accessible by train, buses and cars.

Dr Igwe said, “high powered delegation from all parts the world, including Igbo Diasporas in America, Europe, and Asia have shown interest to attend the occasion. The south-east Governors, traditional rulers, and Captain of industries within the south-east Nigeria will be attending the event.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo President, Chief John Nnai Nwodo will be the Special Guest of Honour and Chairman of the occasion.
In another vein, Ohanaeze Ndigbo UK was last Sunday had general meeting that witnessed large turnout of old and new members. It was reported as the first time the organisation in the UK has witnessed such number of people in attendance. According to the members, Arthur Obika said, “many communities, associations, and organisations have recently registered with Ohanaeze Ndigbo and will be turning out en mass for the occasion.
Considering the centre, Obika said, the venue of the occasion was carefully chosen for everyone’s comfort and convenience”. He said, the venue is massive, enhanced by its outdoor athletic tracks that are safe, with plenty rooms, spaces to prevent overcrowding to accommodate everyone – families, relatives, and well-wishers. He guarantees everyone’s comfort and enjoyment at the event.
The World Igbo Day 2019 is being organised by Ohanaeze Ndigbo UK in collaboration with Igbo Communities and organisations in the United Kingdom.
